Tropa ni Papu Goes on Road Trips and Mall Hops!
Since we came back to Davao in late June, my sched just got busier and busier in the weeks that followed. I host the radio show Happy Berde on Monday mornings; hold classes from Monday afternoons to Fridays — which also means having to give out, check and record exams and problem sets as well as compute and submit grades; serve as faculty adviser of 1 of AdDU’s 2 teams for the Sikat Design Challenge; serve in different school and university committees; study for ongoing team research; and sit as panel member for a number of thesis defense presentations — and these do not yet include commitments outside of Ateneo.
So we took the sem break as the perfect opportunity to spend time with family. As for my side of the family, we — Tropa ni Papu (Papu being my father, who had a stroke in 2010 leaving the right side of his body paralyzed) — went to fun road trips and relaxing mall hops.
The Adventures of Tropa ni Papu
First destination was Tagum. We only planned for Panabo, but upon arriving in Panabo, we realized we were only minutes away from Tagum, and so we went to Tagum! Madaling kausap, d ba? Hahaha!
At one particular night, we went out to have dinner in Obrero straight from our home at the Toril side of the city. Malayong paglalakbay just for dinner! 😛
We also went mall hopping from NCCC Mall Maa to SM City Davao to Victoria Plaza (the Plaza for all!). 😉
Just last weekend, we went to Digos! It was not a great time for a road trip from Davao to Digos with the long stretch of road repairs, but off we went! We had late lunch at one of the most popular food stops in the city, which is Mer’s Kitchenette.
I am truly grateful to God for the time, energy and provision that allowed us to do these fun activities with our family. Excited for our next bonding trip! 😉
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise),
3 “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”
4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
