Your Berde Girl Now Reporting for Happy Berde!
The first day of August was a super busy day for me.
At 7:40 AM, I started my first day back to teaching after studying MS Environmental Engineering in UP Diliman for 2 years.
At 3:40 PM, I attended a volunteers’ meeting for Oya Mindanao, a gathering of over 4,000 participants from Mindanao to discuss environmental issues with DENR Sec. Gina Lopez.
At 7:00 PM, it also became my first day back as a Davao blogger as I attended Marco Polo Davao’s Kadayawan fashion show. (Edit: It turned out that this is the 2nd event I attended as a blogger after we got back. I attended DOST’s press conference for Juan Science, One Nation at NCCC Mall a week prior.)
These were all so exciting, but I guess the icing on the cake was when I reported to my first day as radio host to the 2-hour environmental radio show Happy Berde on Ateneo Radio DXGN 89.9 Spirit FM from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN.
I have been a teacher, a volunteer for the environment and a blogger — and I enjoyed and still am very much enjoying my time spent in these roles. Hosting a radio show for the first time, however, made the day extra memorable.
I was informed that I would be one of the hosts of the show a couple of months back. Since I was still completing my MS degree in Diliman, my first day to report for duty as Berde Girl was slightly delayed.
This was not the first time I was asked to host a radio show. A number of years back, Chito and I were offered a 3-hour weekend radio show that would focus on Davao, given that we were actively promoting the city on our blog DavaoBase.com. We were probably not ready to take such a responsibility then.
On August 1, my first day as a radio host finally happened. It was an exciting first day and I really had fun!
I was with Berde Friend Ron (Lim) and we talked about wildlife biodiversity with Berde Guest Lemuel Manalo of Interface Development Interventions Inc., an environmental NGO working for the protection and preservation of Davao watersheds.
Last Monday, August 8, Berde Boy Andrew and I talked about Mindanao and Davao ecotourism with Berde Guest Olan Emboscado, a multi-awarded travel blogger and a good friend.
This is a new thing for me and I thank the Lord for exciting opportunities like this.
So, mga ka-Berde, don’t forget to tune in to Happy Berde every Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NN at Ateneo Radio on DXGN 89.9 SpiritFM. 😉
